Dear Mr Claus,
I am writing this letter to inform you that I do not want chocolate this year. Instead I would prefer 5 kilo grams of candy. It is to my concern that you did not eat my cookies last year. I just wanted to let you know that they are still there.
Another thing, if you are willing to do this I would like a huge present this year. Maybe a Playstation 4 with lots of games, or an Xbox One with tons of games. No matter which, I do not mind. I think that I deserve one of these because I have been a great boy this year and washed the dishes once.
Also I am wondering now if you would like me to change what I give you to eat. Since last year you didn't eat your high in fat cookies so I was wondering if you wanted something like broccoli or lettuce. Just in case your going on a diet.
I was also wondering how all your little elves are going I hope they're fine. This time of year gets quite busy for you considering it's the only time you work. Unless you have another job? Oh and how are your reindeer going as well, is Rudolph's nose still shining bright? And is Comet behaving himself? And who is your lead reindeer now? I would like it if you send me your answer by email as it is a modern way of communicating in this age.
Thank you for taking your precious time to read this.
Your sincerely.
Damian

Third world countries
The third world arose during the cold war. Also the second world and first world. These worlds split earth into different country groups depending on the current social, economic and political problems.
Some of the third world countries include:
Africa
Latin America
Asia
Tanzania
and many more.
Right now New Zealand is a first world country. We are very fortunate to be like this.
One third world country is Afghanistan, it is classified as a third world country because 40% of the country live in poverty with 2/3 of them only have 2 US dollars a day which is 2.42 NZ dollars.

Do you recognize this quote? This piece of writing is a famous piece by William Shakespeare and is in act 2 scene 2 of the play Romeo and Juliet. The piece was made in 1591 - 1595 and made as a play in the 1600's. But this isn't the whole quote the whole quote is "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." This means that a name doesn't matter about anything, because it's not the name it's what they are.William Shakespeare was born in United Kingdom at the location of Stratford- upon -Avon.
When William presented his play to Samuel Pepy his comment was "this is the worst play Iv'e seen in my life." But now it is one of the most popular plays in existents. It consist of 5 acts with a differnet number of scenes in each in act 1 there is 5, 2 has 6, 3 has 5, 4 has 5, and the 5th act has 3 scenes.
The play is about two people who were not aloud to love eachother. But then they decided to get married. But there is no happy ending because the night before the wedding Juliet kills herself. So Romeo couldn't ber it and he killed himself too.
Heres a link about it.

This is the port of Tauranga It is 113.4 hectares and includes the logging industrie. The logging industrie takes in 63,000 logs per day and has 186 staff members. Logs are shipped from all around the world and delivered to places around New Zealand, Australia and even Asia. The logs that come into the port mainly come from the heneua forest.
Th logs collected are usually turned into building materials, fences and maintenance. But all the logs that are sent to kaurau get turned into paper or saw dust. The logs usually get to the port by trucks or trains.
To work as a Lumber jack for the port is a payment of 32.000 a year and a lot of hard work. But you could also work as a log truck driver or on the log trains. If you take this job you would more than likely travel around the country or maybe even the world!!
A lot of countries send us there logs to turn into paper, sawdust or building materials. This is because we have quite a big industrie and countries like Asia and Africa do not.
Here is a link about the company:

Curling is a sport that is consisting of 4 players. Each player has a specific role. There is the two sweepers who use brooms to increase the speed of the curling stone. The curler who can make a path and slowly turn the curling stone. And the pusher who push the curling stone across the surface of the ice. The ice is called the curling sheet.
The aim of this game is to get as much points as you possibly can. To get these points you need to get the curling stone as close as you can to the middle of the house. The house is a big target with a number of layers. Each layer has a different amount of points the closer to the middle of the house you get, the more points you get.
When you are playing this game you are going head to head with another rival team. Each team takes turn pushing the curling stone until the end comes. The end is after each team has finished pushing their 8 curling stones. There are 8 to 10 ends in a game.
Curling isn't as easy as it looks though. It takes a lot of stratergising and team work to conquer this game and a lot of skill. In this game you have to get used to the weight of the curling stone (which is mad of granite) and the friction of the ice. It is not the most physical game but it could be tiring.
Curling has been around since the 15 hundreds but it has definitely stepped up since then. Today we use the brooms and a much more modern arena. In the old days they didn't even use a broom.

Movie Review
1. It needs the names of main actors.
2. A small description of the movie.
3. What the movie is called.
4. Who the director is.
5. Your opinion.

Pacific Rim is an amazing movie with the acting talents of Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman. This movie was directed by Guillermo del Toro.
The storyline of the movie is that creatures are breaking through a monster gate in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. So mankind build giant robots to defend Earth. But only certain people can pilot this robot these people need to have the drift. A drift is a special bond between two pilots of the robot. It means that they can sense what each other are going to do by bonding through memories. Will man kind be able to protect themselves from the monsters??
In my opinion this is a great movie with a mix of giant robots and huge monsters. And I would definitely watch it again.
I recommend this to people who love monsters, giant robots and fighting.

TBC orientation day
Today we went to TBC orientation day. At the orientation day we watched all the year 9s do the haka. Then we split off into our class groups. The class groups are the classes that we will be in next year. I got into the accelerant class along with a few class mates. After we found out that we got an envelope and a personality sheet which we had to fill out. Then we went for a walk around the school and went into the GYYT. In there Mr Cook told us we got into accelerant and gave us a bit more information about the school. At the end we all got ice blocks and hopped on the bus to go back to school.

Description of a photo.
Cars packed trying to get out of the area. Trying but for most, failing. This is a common day for all man kind in this generation. This is all because of the infection. At least half the worlds population is now gone, taken those creatures. Skies now as black as coal burnt to a crisp and most the clouds are caused by smoke from destroyed factories. The smell of toxic fumes fills the air and the taste of nuclear power in everyones mouth from the fallen stations. Screams fill the ears of millions of innocent people. Honking cars mute out all other sounds. The air is thick and feels musky. Destroyed buildings and shelters lying on the ground, now useless rubble.

On the animal test there are 4 different personalities. Otter, Golden Retriever, Lion, and Beaver. I was pretty well rounded in my scoring, I scored about the same percent for all of them. But the next closest one was Beaver at 26%. 4 of the thing to have a better attitude is to. Dump dumb thoughts, Try something knew, help others, make new friends.

12 hour relay.
12 hours of running sound pretty hard.
But this event you get a rest free card.
after each lap you do you get a break.
Where you could eat chocolate or even a steak.
So it may not sound as hard anymore.
Until you get home and your legs are so sore.
Even if you only run 3 or 4 laps.
You really want to go home and have a long nap.
Now it's all over but it was great fun.
We all go home ans say goodbye to the sun.

The 12 Hour Relay Disaster
The look on Mr Scholes face spelled T for trouble. A young child suddenly flew into the air. Gazeboes were torn out of the ground and throwing high into the sky. I looked up in shock as I realized what had come upon us. A cyclone. A cyclone as big as 500 blue whales was right above me. I realized I was doomed there was no getting out of this one. But then I saw the light. No, not the light when your dead, the light seeping through the rugged cyclone slowly splitting it in half. I saw that I had a glimmer of hope. But then as the light grew even more I realized we were all saved. The cyclone completely vanished and now, we were truly saved. It was really an act of god.

Letter to Mr Diver
Dear Mr Diver.
I am writing this letter to explain why your school should have a pool. My first reason is that it would help a lot with swimming sports. Because most kids don't have a pool at home and are to busy or tired to go to the local pool. So a school pool would be a perfect arrangement. Second of all is that in Summer it gets really hot. And if kids get to hot that could affect how they work and their attitude towards school work. It would be so refreshing to hop into a pool that I wouldn't complain about anything. Plus the teachers can hop in if they want. A pool could be a replacement for some of our PE blocks in the Summer. And could be placed infront of room 41 and 42 once the special school is back up and running. But of course it would have a gate around it. Students could just bring their togs to school but change when they finish swimming. Kids shouldn't be allowed to walk around in there togs at morning tea and lunch.

letter advice.
I've got some older friends (I'm 13 they are 14/15) who have invited me to a party on Saturday night at someone's house. I'm pretty sure everyone there will be drinking. I've never had alcohol before. I'm going to tell my parents I'm staying the night at my friends. I feel quite nervous, cos I know it's bad. What should I do?
What you need to do is tell your parents the truth. If they know the truth then they can help. Because drinking at your age is illegal. And if your friends are doing it then it might be a good idea to find some new ones. Remember Don't get pressured into drinking. It's your decision.

Acting Career:
Why an actor??
Acting is a carer that can take you all around the world. But one of the main places that is really big on acting is Hollywood. Plus acting is super fun and you can meet lots of new people. When I did the production this year I came out of it with loads more friends then I had before. Also lots more people will know your name. Thats right you can’t forget about the fame, and the money!!! If you are trying out to be an actor you should keep a stash of money just incase. Because you don’t want any unpaid bills before your carer even begins.
The main rule of been a successful actor.
If you become successful in an acting carer there is one main rule The Director Is God!!! This means that the director always has the final say in any play or film you are working in. And be sure to share his vision in your character. But there will always be a disagreement between the actor and director. So don’t worry if you do because it’s normal.
Drumming Career:
Why a drummer??
Like an actor a drummer also get to travel the world. Most likely if you are more famous. It is also really fun and is great to bond with your band members. Thats another good thing. You hang out a lot with your band members. If you practice a lot (which you should if you want to be successful) then you would be over at your band members house almost every day or every weekend. Also it can help your creativity by making your own songs which could be very famous!! And who doesn’t like a good song to listen to anyway?
Some tips for being a professional drummer.
Tip #1 Be Unique!
Don’t be afraid to be unique. Try to get out there!!
Tip #2 Accept Criticism.
It’s easy to get knocked down these days but try to take criticism as a positive thing.
Tip #3 Set Your Goals!
Try to have a goal. Like how far you want your music carer to go. Because if you don’t know that it will be considerably hard to become successful.

Letter advice.
I found out my 2 friends smoke. I'm only 13. I don't know what to do. I am really confused. Please help.
What you should do is tell a parent or teacher about this. Even if they are your friends. Because smoking is illegal until you are 18 and it could cause death at a younger age then non smokers. But remember if they offer you a cigarette try say no and delay the decision to smoke until you are older. Delay the decision means to wait until you are mature enough to decide wether you want to get into this or not.

Class A.B&C drugs
Questions and Answers!!!
Class A,B&C drugs are different groups of illegal drugs in the UK.
Class A drugs are proven to be the most harmful of the drug groups. Some of the drugs in this group are heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and LSD. If you a are found guilty for having class A drugs the consequence could be up to 7 years in jail and be fined. But if you decide to sell class A drugs it could end up a life time of being in prison.
Class B drugs include drugs such as speed, barbiturates and cannabis. Some people think since these drugs are in the B grade it is much less serious then the drugs in the A grade. But they were wrong, if the police find out that people have been using these drugs it could cause Imprisonment for up to 5 years. But if you are found producing and and selling these drugs the consequence is being in prison for 14 years.
Class C drugs this class include tranquilizers, valium and anabolic steroids. But remember just because these drugs are in class C dont think that they are not illegal, because they are. If you are caught using these drugs it could cause 2 years of imprisonment and an unlimited fine. If you are caught producing and selling these it could cause 14 years of imprisonment.

Black Friday
Black Friday is on Friday the 13th. A big thing on Black Friday is all of the sales. It is also a day of superstition. Some superstition are a black cat crossing your path which could lead to horrible consequences, opening umbrellas indoors which could really hurt someone, a broken mirror which means bad luck for 7 whole years, placing a hat on a bed which means that something horrible will happen to you.

Ring Ring, oh no here we go again. Connor jumped behind the couch and was shivering. Why does it have to ring everyday he said to himself.

My weekend poem
In my weekend I played some drums and shot some hoops.
But my weekend wasn't just going in a loop.
I also played some computer games and ate some toast.
I had some nutela on it but I don't mean to boast.
I finished off some work and posted it on my blog.
And played some games with my bro I was not the underdog.
I watched tv for most the day
And watched a tiger kill a deer and drag it home no matter how much it may weigh.

What we did over the last couple of days.
Over the last couple of days we have had a reliever in our class because our teacher Ms Campbell did something to her back and couldn't walk. So we had Mrs Verster instead and did some of her worksheets. There were coloring in ones word searches and some writing ones. We did some maths to try to find out the area and perimeter of the middle room table. If we were really good we also got to listen to some music but it was nice calming music. We did some more of our narrative writing and Bridge To Terabithia novel study.

For and Against
Is fruit better than vegetables.
For
• Fruit is more common in lunch boxes and to me are tastier than vegetables.
• It's easier to replant fruit because it's easier to get the seeds. That means that you could have your own mandarin tree and not have to buy anymore.
Against
• You can put vegetables in dinners and you can cook them up. You can also do this with fruit but it's more common with veggies.

Computers are better for learning
For
• All the tools you need are right infront of you like the dictionary, thesaurus and spell check which can help with your spelling ability.
• You can search up things when you are stuck instead of having to continually bug your teacher with endless questions.
• If you get a job that envolves a computer than you have already learned about how to use them correctly at school and wont have to keep asking for help.
Against
• Your handwriting skills will go down and if you have to right out am essay in the future you wont get very good marks for your handwriting.
• If you use a book it can teach you to self manage yourself with drawing out lines properly and doing your neatest work.
• Using a computer to much could affect your eyes which effects your sight and if you have bad posture it could effect your back in the future.

What annoys me.
What annoys me the most is people who use my stuff without asking. Especially people who don't respect other peoples belongings. But little kids are the worst. I know that they are just trying to have fun but sometimes it really gets on my nerves. My stuff just keeps getting continually broken and when they play on my drums they play nice and loud nonstop for about 5 minutes.

Is homework good.
For
• It can expand your knowledge in vocabulary, maths and real life situations.
• It helps with catching up to the class if you are out of class a lot doing production, sports, etc.
• It teaches you self management so in the future you will get stuff done instead of just shoving it in a corner
Against
• If you have lots of sports or other things after school and you don't have much time to do homework than you would have to stay up late to finish it and that could affect your performance at school.
• It's mostly boring and some people may not be bothered to do it. To solve this the teacher could try to make it more fun .
• It takes up time that could be used to raise your sport skills or socializing with friends.

My holiday
In the holidays I didn't do very much but I did do some fun things. When the holidays started I was basically on my computer the whole time then my Mum made me ring up a friend and ask them to come over so I rang my friend Ben. Him and his brother came over (because my brother is friends with his) and we went straight on the computers again. We watched a movie at the movies called Pacific Rim and it was awesome. Then we went to miniput at Memorial Park Ben won and my brother lost. We played on the playground a bit after that and then got picked up. I ended up getting sick just before they left so we watched Fast And Furious 6 and Ben and his brother went home. Then on the Saturday my brother got his friend Neeson over. Then we all played computer. We all went and watched the Lone Ranger at the movies which was funny and cool. Then we went home and played computer. In the second week of the holidays my brother and I went over to Bens house. We went up to the swings for a bit but then we came back and played Black Ops 2 while Cody and Daniel (Our brothers) played on the computer. We would switch over every 2 hours so then Ben and I would be on the computer and Cody and Daniel would play Black Ops. We kept swapping over until it was lunch time.

Term2 Overveiw
In this term there has been lots of awesome and exciting events like the production, cross country and our class camp. Our class camp was on the first week back and we went to Nguamuwahine for a week. Then in term 8 was the whole school cross country. The cross country is 3 kilometres long and in the middle of winter. Running isn't my strongest physical activity so I came 105th out of 300. But my highlight by far was definitely the production. For the production I ended up getting the main part so I had to practice most days. I had 2 weeks out of class in week 8 and 9 and I loved preforming on stage.
I've already said my highlight which was the production but my lowlight was. Well honestly I don't really have a lowlight, this term has been awesome. The only thing I didn't really enjoy the cross country because it was tiring.

I did quite bad in computer skills last year too. I have not tried english yet though.

E6: Join a production and attend every rehearsal.
This year Tauranga Intermediate School has made a production based on the movie Bill and Teds excellent adventure. It's called A Most Triumphant Tale and I got chosen for the lead role. There are three lead roles Phil (me), Ed (Liam) and Starman (Matthew). It's about a band called Labyrinth who enter a band battle and try to beat their rivals One Dimension. But then all of Labyrinths band members leave except for the drummer and the bass player (Phil and Ed). Then Starman comes from the future in his Time Traveller Express or the Phone Box Thingy. They travel through time to get some new band members like Jimi Hendrix and Mozart but they make some accidental stops along the way. But will they get some amazing musicians and beat One Dimension or will they run out of time?
Ive had to rehearse most days in block one and two but over the last two weeks I was in the hall all the time. But on the second week I was up at Bay Court the whole time. We did two Matinees and three night shows. There were a few technical difficulties at the beginning but our final show only had one or two which is much better than the rest. I was surprised that I didn't feel that nervous and was looking forward to getting on stage even if I did have to wear make up.

G2 Create a 3 course formal meal for your family
Today I decided to make a 3 course meal for my family. I started off with the soup for this I had to cut up different vegetables like carrots, onions and some other ones. I was going to put in bacon hock but we got a pork one and those don't work so we didn't use it. Ones I chopped everything up I put it in the crockpot put in the soup mix and filled it with water then turned it on and let it cook all day. Then for main I made a quiche that I learnt from food teach. And finally dessert was a chocolate pie with ice cream. I didn't make the chocolate pie. I had to double the ingredients for the quiche.

Physical Activity and the Outdoors
P7: Design your own activity
This year I have made it into the A team for Basketball and the AIMS team at Tauranga Intermediate School. The AIMS Games hasn't started yet but so far my team has won every game but has had three byes. One because of Queens Birthday one because the opposing team forfeited and another because theres and odd number in our grade (the A grade). Here is a table of results (my teams T.I.S Thunder and read across). We have only played two out of the possible five games so far because of the byes.

AIMS is a sporting international competition with all different types of sports. It has Hockey, Netball, Basketball and loads more. It's a really fun competition that takes place in term three. It's held every year and so far Tauranga Intermediate School has won it every single year and I think it's been going on for 8 years and if not more.
Homework Activities
Service in your school or community
S1: Improve your leadership skills, act as a class leader or school councilor for the whole year.
This year I have been chosen as one of the Rimu House Leaders. To be chosen as one of the house leaders I had to make a speech and present it infront of the whole house at our House Hui. This year our house has three house leaders Jessica, Lachlan and I. There is normally only two House Leaders but the teachers couldn't decide between Lachlan and I.
As House Leader I must attend all the School Council meetings and camps (if possible). I also get a badge to prove that I am the House Leader. At the leadership camp my school (Tauranga Intermediate) was joined by Mount Intermediate, Otumoetai Intermediate and Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy at Tauranga Boys College. We learnt lots of different leadership skills like how to shake someones hand, how to present a speech and talk and how to work in a team. Most School Council meetings are on Wednesday at two o'clock but are occasionally postponed till later in the week.

Computer Game I Have Played.
1 computer game I have played is called Little Inferno. Little Inferno is a game mainly for pyromaniacs but the best part about it is you get to burn the Terms & Conditions. It's not one of those games with scores or a time limit and it's actually got a story line. You get letters from people and lots of different combos you can get by burning stuff. The aim of the game is to basically burn all of your stuff to keep warm but there is a surprise ending. It is set inside a house and is made by Tomorrow Corporation. It may sound a bit boring but it's actually really addicting. The main character is you and your fire place and also your neighbor

I know most of the people she looks after and I know she loves her job because she comes home happy to talk about her day everyday. But at her last job in Minnows she had a angry boss.

My Weekend
In the weekend I was on the computer for most of the first half of it but I also went to Fraser Cove. I was looking for some computer games but all of them were for windows except for Sims but I didn't want that one. So I just didn't buy anything there. Then we had to go grocery shopping but me and my brother hate grocery shopping. So mum said we could just go to Dominoes and buy a pizza and wait for her in there. It was really good because first of all I didn't have to go shopping and second I got a pizza and it was only $4.99.
Then on Sunday I wasn't aloud on the computer because I was on it to much. So I just ended up working on my War hammer I ended up finishing 2 of them and almost finishing 2 more. Then at 1:00 I had to go to production we ran through most of the scenes in both acts. I can basically do all of it without my script but I sometimes stuff up. Then when I came back home I basically worked on War hammer and watched TV.

Idioms
Like a chicken with it's head cut off.
It means to be in a frenzied matter and run around crazily.
Because when you chop of a chickens head it still runs around with no sense of where it's going for a little bit.
You may use this when someone is running around the house and has no care for where there going you could say.

Someone Different
I have a different friend called John (different in a good way.) He does dancing and hes very good at it he has won loads of trophies and I mean heaps. I reckon hes one more than fifteen or even twenty. He does lots of different types of dancing I don't know them all though. He can also do the splits. He is also into gaming he plays Assassins Creed and lots of different active type games. He is always super hypo and can never sit still. He wants to go outside quite a lot and go down to the stream. But he normally wants to play his Wii U. He has a good sense of humour because he always wants to wear this horse head and do face swaps on his Ipod. He has really blond hair almost white.

Charging Laptops In Rimu House
If Rimu students charge there laptop at school it will waste electricity which means it will waste money. If Rimu students just charge it at home it will save the school money. If there are lots of cords all over the place then people could trip over them and injure themselves or break something. If you bring your charger to school everyday along with your other everyday items it could increase the chance of back problems. If you just charge them at home then you wouldn't have to bring them to school. If you do that every night than you will get into the pattern of it and hopefully don't forget again. I think people shouldn't charge there laptops at school because it's just a waste of school money that could be used for other things.

My weekend
In the weekend I felt excited when I heard that I had a production rehearsal on Sunday. I felt annoyed that I had to wake up early to go there but rehearsals are really fun. I was there from 10:00 to 2:30 with an hour break in-between during that hour break I played this volleyball kind of game but you have to use a hackie sack. Since Liam and I are both leads we were in every single scene in act two plus we had our band rehearsal after that for a little bit. It sounded fine but Jess and Mrs Story told us to animate ourselves more. I felt a bit nervous doing that because there were about 8 people watching us and I didn't want anyone to laugh. Since I am the drummer in the band it's a bit hard to but Mrs Story said that all the boys were fine so that s good for Finlay Liam and I but Kayliegh and Emily had to animate themselves a bit more. I felt relieved that I didn't have to act it out anymore than I already was.

I wonder why
I wonder if there are more undiscovered planets we haven't found?
I wonder how scabs form?
When you get a cut and blood comes out cells in your body called platelets band together and create the scab. The scab protects the wound so it can't get infected or worse. It also stops more blood from coming out.
I wonder how the universe was created?
I wonder if there are any unknown life forms on different planets?

Visit to room 43
Room 43 is a class at Tauranga Intermediate School but it's no ordinary class. This class teaches all the special needs kids. The old class they were in burned down and they moved into a temporary class right outside mine. When they moved in my class and the class next to mine decided visit them. There is a really cool guy in there called Bobby and he showed us around. He said that we could ditch class and visit his whenever we want.
Graveyard Visit
Last week my class and I went to the 16th Avenue Cemetery. We went to the 16th Avenue Cemetery because of our statistics. For our statistics we had to find a question like what was the most common name in the 1900. The question my buddy and I came up with was if people lived longer in the modern days then the olden days. There were lots of graves there and some were really flash and it was really sad to see a grave with an 8 year old in it. When we left the cemetery we washed our hands so we could cleanse ourselves from the spirit we get from the cemetery. Our whole class were respective to the graves but there was one person with some dogs there and she was playing fetch with them. Then one of her dogs decided to take a dump in there and pee on the grave.

My weekend
Surprisingly my Mum let me go on the computer most of the weekend. Even my science fair involved using my laptop. I had to see if ergonomics effects the comfort and the skill level that you play. Even though I was on the computer most of the time I still got outside... For a bit. I was shooting hoops in my basketball hoop. I was normally shooting off the trampoline but mostly just practicing shoots and lay ups. To tell the truth I basically finished my whole science fair in one day all thats left to do is the editing and the conclusion. I had to make it a quite simple science fair because I have a really busy term this term with Production and Basketball.

Extinct Animals - Megalodon
The Megalodon which in Greek means big tooth is an extinct shark species that was alive approximately 1.5 to 28 million years ago. Remains of the sharks fossils say that it was at least 15.9 - 20.3 metres. Scientist say that the Megalodon looked just like a bigger and beefier version of the Great White Shark. The Megalodons teeth were also 7 inches long and had the most powerful bite of any other creature that roamed the planet. These massive beast's feasted on giant whales and may have disabled them by bitting of there fins.

Periodic Table
I found out that the Periodic Table is a table of all the elements on earth it has 118 elements so far. All the elements have special numbers for how many protons they have (these are called atomic numbers) and one or two letters that is basically just a shorter name. There are 18 different group in the Periodic Table. The Periodic Table is similar to Minecraft it has all the elements and helps to see what two or three elements make another element. The creator of this amazing table was named Dmitri Mendeleev.

Science Discovery Of Coca Cola
John Pemberton was looking for a cure for headaches. He kept mixing a lot of ingredients together. But the recipe is guarded and most of the public dont know it. Coca Cola only took 8 years of being sold in drug stores before it was popular enough to be sold in bottles. Coca Cola was just an accidentally discovery while trying to discover a treatment for headaches. Coca Cola is the most successful food / drink invention

Friction Test
At Tauriko Primary School my class and I decided to do a friction test. We tested many things such as riding bikes in sand, sliding down slides on different things and toy cars on different substances. First we decided to test the bikes. For that we had to ride through sand bark etc and see how far the bike got. I forgot the measurements but I know that the bark one won. Next we did the toy car test we had a ramp with sandpaper on it and a ramp with no sandpaper on it both at the same hight. We tested how much slower the sandpaper made the car I forgot how much but it was still a cool test. Then we went to memorial park and tested the slide. We had a sack and normal clothes and timed how fast we went down the slide. We did it a few times and the sack ended up going faster then the normal clothes.

Rimu House Camp
I'm proud that for the clash of camp activity I got chosen for leaf identification which is like a scavenger hunt. There was 5 things that I had to find which was a Rimu leaf (coincidently I was already holding one when they told me), a skeleton leaf, some lichen, a river stone the size of $1 coin and a kidney fern. I was the first one in the bush and the first one out.
It made me laugh when Mrs Shepard told me to dance on the beam. The beam is basically just a log in the air attached to the high ropes. When I danced I decided to do the robot and the bird is the word dance (Peter Griffen style). Then I had to jump off.

Physical activities and the outdoors.
P5 Compete in a sport for an entire season
Throughout term 1 I competed in social volley ball. My team and I played every thursday either at lunch or after school. The people who were in my team were Ben, Milly, Caitlin and I. We only lost one game out of about 8. None of us really played before but we knew each other really well and had fun. We ended up winning the whole tournament and the sports coordinator said that we were decent players and should try out for the league teams. For the finals we versed a team from Rata I forgot what their team name was though. But our teams name was the flags I don't know why we were called the flags it was just the first thing that popped into our heads. When we won we got chocolate, drinks and lollie pops.
All in all it was an awesome time and it was really really fun.

Amazing Google Glasses.
Google has created new futuristic glasses that lets you see websites take photos and videos. Google says that wearing this will be just like watching a 25 inch screen tv. The don't have headphones or anything they send vibrations into the little bone in your ear. The glasses project light directly infront of you so you see a slightly transparent screen.

Mother assaults police with quiche.
A New South Wales, mother assaulted a police officer with a quiche. The reasoning for it was because the police gave her a ticket for violence according to ABC but it turns out that it wasn't meant for her. So the mother rammed the police officer with a pram and chucked a quiche at him over the rage. So now we know the most effective weapon against police is… Quiche

Breakers win third straight title.
The New Zealand Breakers have won the Australian Basketball League. The game was close the whole way but an 11-0 score in the second half classified their win. The game was held in the Perth Arena early in the morning. The Breakers won the game 70-66 against the Perth Wildcats the Breakers main rivals. The player Dillon Boucher was over the moon with this win because sadly he will be retiring. But players Cedric Jackson and Thomas Ambercrombie are aiming for the NBA.

Excellence In The Arts
E6: Join a band and attend every rehearsal.
I never intended on being in a blues band but I got the lead part in the production and I have to be a drummer in there. So Jess (the person who brings the bands together) got me and the other lead role person Liam (who plays the bass) and got us both in the band along with four singers and two electric guitarists. The songs that I learned were Blue Suede Shoes (Elvis Presley), Back To Black (Amy Winehouse), Let Me Down Easy (Instrumental), Brown Eyed Girl (Van Morrison), Piece Of My Heart (Janis Joplin), Superstition (Steve wonders) and some 12 bar blues which is just instrumental. Plus I only had three weeks to learn all these songs! So with only three weeks I had to work hard, I had to skip some class time to learn song and I didn't even have a music sheet to learn them off. Liam and I had some lessons together because neither of us knew any of the songs. And I practiced hardcore at home. When the day finally came to preform infront of a live audience at the Historic Village I had 100 butterflies flying around in my tummy. But when I got up on stage they all went away and I was focused on not mucking up. But of course since it was my first time I had a few mistakes but nothing major. My best songs that I played turned out to be Superstition and Piece of my heart. Plus the last time I played Blue Suede Shoes we go the crowd cheering. We had two sets of this each an hour long and I met lots of new cool friends in the band like George, Ethan and Liam.

Homework Expectations
Amount
We think that 30-45 minutes every weeknight is a reasonable expectation for homework. Per week that equals approximately 2.5 hours per week of homework.
2 terms = 20 weeks. Every homework task should take you 5 hours to do.
Quality
You need to work on each homework task for at least 2.5 to 5 hours. It should like it was done by a year 8 student. The product you make (if relevant) should look good quality.
Blog Post
- must be at least 2 paragraphs
- has to be punctuated correctly, spell checked and no errors
- you must include which category and task number in your post title so Miss C can sign you off.

The NZ Breakers have won their 1st set of the Australian Basketball League finals. The Breakers had an amazing second half when Daryl Corletto was on fire scoring goals like there was no tomorrow. The final score was 79-67 to the Breakers with Daryl Corletto scoring 19 points. Now the Breakers head to Perth for a second set of the finals and if they win this the would have won the competition three times in a row.

Rimu House Swimming Sports.
At the start of the day our house walked down to Memorial Pools. It took us a while but, when we finally got there we had to get changed and sit on the grand stand. The first event was 25m freestyle there weren't enough lanes so Ben and I had to share a lane. I ended up coming first and Ben was second. I joined every event after that which included 25m backstroke 2nd place, 25m breast stroke 2nd place, 25m doggy paddle 1st equal (with Hoani the fastest swimmer there), 50m freestyle 2nd place, underwater also 2nd place and dolphin dive 1st place. I got a placing in everything all firsts and seconds. I was also in the class relay and our class came first in that as well. But when it was my go I slipped and failed diving because you had to quickly slip on a band around your wrist and go. Then we had to walk all the way back (which really hurt my shoulders because I was carrying my bag) and it also took ages which was really annoying. But when we got back I found out that our class was victorious for the relay!
All in all it was a great day.

E5: Improve your confidence and skills: Prepare and present a speech on the topic of your choice in front of the Rimu house hui.
House Leader Speech
Why I Deserve To Be House Leader
Friends, Teachers and all those in between I stand before you today as a member of the all mighty Rimu house. It is my pleasure to bring to you the reason why I desire to be your house leader. I was class leader last year and it seems like a natural progression to strive for house leader.
I would be a great house leader because my Mum said so haha nah just kidding. I am pretty well rounded. I am good at academics, sports, music oh but not all music I’m not very good at singing at least my Dad doesn’t think so. And neither does my cat. But i’m good at drums well I should be i’ve been playing for 4 years. I am also social so I can get along with anyone. I am really into sports especially basketball and surfing.
I also enjoy a bit of fun and don’t mind making a fool of myself.
And last but definitely not least I will strive for the STARS and make sure that our house is the best at following them by been a great example and role model myself.
For example safety is important for me and I want everyone to be safe so if you don’t please tell me and I can deal with it. And I am a team player and don’t want anyone left out of anything and even a leader needs to understand it’s not just about leading it’s about been part of a team. I also want everyone to achieve in whatever they do whether it be academics, sports music or whatever floats your boat so if theres something I can help with I will be there. I will respect everyone's opinions and ideas and make sure you get a say in things. And last but not least sense of humour as you know I like to have a laugh and I want this year to be a funny but sensible to, just remember the calm too crazy to calm rule.
So vote for me Damian Torwick for house leader and I will make sure that you have an AWESOME year.
